save them Its our Last Chance!

Dear Fellow nature Lover
Please visit greenpeace.org/turtles and missoliveriddley@blogspot.com .
This one is for everyone ,who love nature from the bottoms of their heart . Please know that TATA 's are building a port at Dhamra few kilo meters away from the nesting site of Olive Ridley Turtles. This largest port of South East Asia will completely jeopardise their habitat. The dredging and water ways along with ships will destroy the tranquility of the site.
We are again on the verge of eradicating one entire specie for economic development.
Requests were made to shift the port but as it wont be economically feasable it was denied. Somehow we all fail to argue when it comes to our development . But the port remains near a fragile and critically endangered nesting ground.
Please support the mission. tell others about it. Help your SEA BUDDIES.!

syeda,,

you are being a victim of mal information , distorted information and emotional conning by deliberate and concerted efforts of some people.

this is definitely not the first instance of a port near turtle habitat, nor is it true that the largest nesting ground of olive ridleys turtles in Orissa, (its in Costa Rica) , this not even a TATA port ,, this a PPP (Public Pvt PArtnership ) project, and is essentially a State Govt port,

We have associated with IUCN (www.iucn.org) the people who rate the conservation status of a species,, among other things, we have the expertise of US army corps of engineers (USACE) who have been monitoring dredging projects successfully for the last 27 years,, in the 90 riverine ports of US.

So please dont get swayed by mal-information,, if you need more information dont hesitate to contact us,, since we are the ones who are building the port, not TATA

& May i add that globally turtles and ports do co-exist and that dredging has to be understood to speak on this matter, its only the trailer suction hopper dredgers which can affect the bottom dwelling creatures, but with the experience and expertise of 27 years of scientific monitoring of dredging and sea life of the USACE , the turtle mortalities can be avoided and we are precisely doing that,, we are also developing lighting protocols for the state govt, similar in lines with those of the florida state. Something the NGOs have never thought off, so that people all along the coast of Orissa will switch off their lights during the turtle nesting seasons., along the seafront.

We will do what the NGOs have failed to do , ,and have only been able to antagonize the fishermen,, who still dont use TEDs (Turtle Excluder Devices) resulting in the death of 9000 turtles every year, in ORissa coast alone,,

What does that tell you, that you are not being fed full information,, dredging and lighting are the key concerns,, and i assure you that dredging is carried out in the US with design modifications in the dredgers, and with relocation trawling..

If you want to know more about write to me,, but please dont get conned and duped with mal-information
